my approach
This work isn’t about getting rid of painful thoughts or emotions, but to really discover and cultivate the tools you need in hard places - communication, relationships, decisions, parenting, uncomfortable thoughts and feelings - or any place where you lose your connection to what matters.
~
My work is from an evidence-informed perspective. This means that I use treatment methods that have been researched and proven to be effective. The work I do is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which means I help clients practice mindfulness and acceptance-based behaviors to decrease the distress caused by painful thoughts, emotions, memories and physical sensations and take steps toward the life that they want.
~
It can be difficult to reach out. Some people find themselves thinking “it’s not that bad” or “I should be able to handle this by myself” or even, "I don't know if I'm ready to deal with this yet". There are no requirements for therapy. If you're feeling lost and stuck, we'll find the clearing where you can see the next piece of work ahead for you.
~
Clients who find themselves drawn to this type of work typically have a curiosity about the mind and body. And an interest in the mind and heart.
